The story behind The Word Effect
It started with a T-shirt —
and changed the way
Becky saw words.
Years ago, Becky and her sister-in-law, Erin, started a T-shirt company called
Becoming Threads with a simple tagline: Let what you wear tell your story.
They put meaningful words on clothing — words that reminded people who they
were and who they were becoming.
But somewhere along the way, Becky discovered something much bigger than what
was printed on a shirt.
When you become intentional about your words,
you can change your experience — even when
your circumstances stay the same.
Words can shift perspective. Perspective can change what we notice, what we
believe is possible, and how we choose to respond.
That discovery sparked a curiosity Becky couldn't let go of:

That question eventually became the foundation for The Word Effect — and the
work Becky brings to leaders and organizations today.

Sometimes, breakthrough starts with
a new way of seeing what’s possible.
Becky experienced a powerful reminder that what we believe is possible can change
when we change the way we approach a challenge. That experience became another
reminder of something she has seen again and again: the words we use — with ourselves
and with others — can shape what we believe, what we see, and what we do next.

Becoming Threads with a simple tagline: Let what you wear tell your story.

Those experiences have strengthened something at the heart of Becky's work: the ability to connect with very different people, listen to what matters to them, and make ideas practical enough to use when they leave the room.
Becky is also the author of The Word Effect and Embrace Your Greatness, host of The Word Effect Podcast, and a member of the National Speakers Association.
